Mashpee's conservation board, now down to three voting members, unanimously clears a six-case hearing docket. Chair Steve, with members Rich and Seana, approved an 8,000-square-foot invasive-removal and native-planting project at 25 Amy Brown Road, where staff ecologist Dan insisted any failed tupelo coppicing be replaced "in kind" after illegal cutting by a prior owner in 2021 left the new homeowner to fix the damage. The board also approved a roughly 14,000-square-foot coastal bank restoration at 358 Shore Drive West, presented by Nick Crawford of Crawford Land Management, and a dock rebuild at 146 Popponesset Island Road raised to meet a state Division of Marine Fisheries clearance standard.
Four cases, including a state culvert-to-bridge project on Great Neck Road North, were continued to September 17. With two members, Sandi and Paul, no longer serving, staff warned the November 5 quarterly meeting on the Upper Quashnet Restoration project may lack a quorum.
