Planning Board · Meeting of October 7, 2026

MASHPEE — The Mashpee Planning Board voted to recommend Town Meeting reject a cut to the Community Preservation Act surcharge. Chair Mary Waygan said reducing the surcharge from 2 percent to 1 percent would "cut the budget of the Community Preservation Program by 50 percent" and conflict with the town's local comprehensive goals. The board approved the recommendation 4-0 with one abstention, ahead of the October 19 Town Meeting.

Separately, the board continued a three-lot Tudor Terrace cluster subdivision hearing to November 4 after neighbors Stephen and Nancy Ferreira and Dr. Chelsea Gibbs urged rejection, with Ferreira saying the developer "bought this piece of land with knowledge that it would not be built." The board also continued Verizon Wireless's 130-foot monopole tower hearing at 524 Great Neck Road North to October 21, pending RF and stormwater peer-review responses.
