Town Meeting · Meeting of October 19, 2026

Mashpee Town Meeting shelved a planned tax surcharge tied to sewer costs and approved 11 other warrant articles. Voters indefinitely postponed Articles 1 and 2, 198-31 and 183-27, after Select Board members said a pending land purchase in the Papanesa watershed made the original Community Preservation Act surcharge plan unnecessary for now. Susan Dangle, chair of the Freshwater Ponds Committee, won approval, 193-39, for a John's Pond diagnostic study, noting the pond "still has a layer of microcystin in the bottom of it." A conservation-land article tied to wastewater infrastructure passed by the narrowest margin of the night, 150-75, exactly the two-thirds threshold required.

Voters also shifted shellfish propagation funding authority to the Shellfish Commission, 205-20, and approved a citizen petition placing a Great Hay Road parcel into conservation, 190-15.
